It all started 40 years ago from within a corporate CIO position, followed by funding a telecommunications company. The journey intensified in 2017 with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into the EU and the global privacy arena. With a strong IT background in every level of IT operations and experience as an ITIL practitioner since 2000, I now operate in a Data Protection Officer (DPO) role as a contractor. My responsibilities include IT privacy assessment and providing training for IAPP certifications (CIPP/E/US, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP), as well as for the BCS AI Foundation and Essentials.

From the very beginning, I have advocated for IT to "respect the user." I continue this advocacy by promoting Privacy by Design and Privacy Engineering within my network of IT engineers and developers. Last but hopefully not least, I am exploring the best approaches for building AI solutions with the same "privacy-friendly" manner as traditional software development. Pablo is an Ecuadorian attorney with a Diploma in Privacy and Compliance from the Universidad Santiago de Chile (USACH) and a LLM in Data Protection from the University of La Rioja (Spain).
