Barbara Cosgrove is Chief Privacy Officer at Workday, a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources. She advocates for Workday globally on data protection matters, and brings insights back to the business to influence the company’s global data privacy strategy. Barbara drove Workday’s adoption of Binding Corporate Rules for Processors and led the efforts for Workday to be the first company to certify to the APEC Privacy Recognition for Processors, as well as the first company to declare adherence to the EU Cloud Code of Conduct.
Barbara previously served as the Chief Security Officer at Workday, and was instrumental in the company achieving ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and ISO 27018 certification.
Barbara serves on the Executive Committee of the IAPP Board of Directors, as well as on the AI Leadership Council and Privacy Advisory Board of the Future of Privacy Forum. She co-chaired the Responsible AI Institute’s Employment Working Group and is a former member of the IAPP Educational Advisory Board and IAPP Engineering Advisory Board.
She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) with extensive experience in building and leading international data privacy, ethics, security, and technical compliance programs at companies including Kaiser Permanente and PeopleSoft.
